Provides journey level repair, maintenance, and service of HVAC systems by supervising and assigning work according to building codes and standards. Conducts routine inspections. Purchases supplies for mechanical, heating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical systems, and building maintenance. Supervises and trains offender work crews on repairs and/or maintenance to HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. Valid drivers license. Working knowledge of the installation, repair, and maintenance practices for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Working knowledge of the equipment and material used in skilled trades including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC and grounds keeping. Skill in the use of hand and power tools and other equipment to complete work assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer training, certification, or licensure in related trades. Prefer progressively responsible experience in one or more trades specialties; to include supervisory and leadership responsibilities. Prefer knowledge in web based HVAC control systems. Prefer EPA Type 1 and Type 2 CFC refrigeration license. Prefer knowledge in VAV boxes and controllers. Prefer knowledge in mini-split system, split systems, and package units.
