Position Overview

Job Summary:

Responsible for: Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Uses welding equipment, machine tools and hand tools to repair machinery and equipment throughout the facility.
  • Does general maintenance work such as routine plumbing, electrical carpentry, painting and preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Initiates Material order requests for parts and machines.
  • Repairs minor electrical problems under the supervision of the plant electrician.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

    Skills and Experience

    Required Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of Instructions Furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

    A working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and water systems is required.
